What's In a Name: Silicate + Studio = Shelfology

Dude. Tons. 

When we started Silicate Studio in 2012, we had a slightly different vision of who we wanted to be, and how we were going to take over the world. We envisioned building custom, modern furniture, and slowly filling the good people of Orange county's homes with our brand of awesomeness. A year into the adventure, we got a request for reclaimed wood floating shelves. No problem, but we quickly found that there were no heavy duty floating shelf brackets available anywhere. So we designed and built the brackets, then put them up for sale. That discovery has been our golden goose, and completely changed the direction of our business.

Since that initial project, our efforts have been directed into making floating brackets uber strong, readily available, customizable, and easy to use. We realized that the world (we ship worldwide) needs a place to find cool, American-made shelf brackets of all kinds. Nerdy, yes, but its been gratifying to find our own place to geek out. With that change came the realization that our name needed to reflect our focus.

Enter "Shelfology." All the good stuff is still here – with more to come – but we have a new name and a new look.
