Watch this late 90’s kitchen get a modern update featuring the clean lines of our Aksel Floating Shelves.

The team here at Shelfology was chuffed to start out the new year collaborating with blogger and therapist Anita Yokota on her kitchen renovation. Featured in Apartment Therapy by Danielle Blundell, this beautiful transformation highlights her down to earth, family friendly style. Fresh, bright and SoCal- all things we get stoked about- her design aesthetic incorporates therapeutic principles to focus on the healthy lifestyle priorities of her clients. Using her signature “Anita Yokota Method” the goal of opening up and modernizing her kitchen, with an eye to more functional storage solutions, brought Shelfology into the plan. Naturally, we were all in- there’s nothing we love more than a good reno project!

Our wood geeks crafted custom White Oak Aksel Floating shelves, in which we added ribbon light channels for super-sweet under shelf lighting. As Danielle describes in her article, “Favorite cups, bowls, and serving boards pepper the back wall of Shelfology open shelving, which is the new statement focal point of the space (as opposed to the former awkward island).” Against the backdrop of the vertical tile, our Aksel open shelving allows easy access to frequently used items while showing them off! A truly functional centerpiece where design meets use- solid gold design 101 right there. But can we backtrack to that gorgeous tile? Anita has proved her tiling chops in the past, but this is a showstopper! Still geeking out about it over here.

We hope your family will enjoy spending time together in this transformed space for years to come!

You, Anita, are Certified Rad.
