Q: Do you sell the wood for floating shelves?
A: Heck yes. We sell both brackets by themselves as well as ready to hang kits. We do this for every bracket product we offer. Every wood shelf we produce is a natural product, carefully grown for decades courtesy of mother earth. Due to normal variations in the density and graining of the wood itself, the same stain may result in a somewhat different appearance. While this accounts for much of the warmth and beauty of natural wood, Shelfology wishes to make clear that an exact color and grain match to the represented sample is neither implied or guaranteed.
Q: What material should I use to make a floating shelf?
A: Solid lumber, or for hollow shelves, 1/2" to 1" lumber, MDF, or plywood are all good options.
Q: How much weight will your shelf brackets hold?
A: The weight capacity depends on 3 things: shelf depth, shelf length, and shelf mounting option. Generally, you can expect 45 lbs per support rod, if the bracket is anchored directly to studs and blocking, rather than drywall.
Q: Your pre-drilled holes don't align with my studs. What do I do?
A: It's simple to mark your stud locations, and drill new countersunk holes into the bracket.
Q: I need to buy multiple brackets. Do you offer some sort of discount?
A: We offer multiple discount levels, based on order volume and frequency. Contact us to learn how to become a dealer.
Q: How long will it take to get my order?
A: Bracket orders are typically shipped in 1-3 days, Shelf kit orders are made to order and take 6-8 weeks to ship. All orders ship via FedEx Ground from Idaho, which takes another 2-5 days, depending on your distance from Idaho.
Q: Do you expedite shipping?
A: Yes. Please contact us or call at 949.244.1083 to arrange expedited shipping.
Q: What type of screw should I use to install my bracket?
A: We recommend a #10 2 and 1/2" wood screw when installing into wood studs. Toggler drywall anchors can secure your wood screws into a drywall surface, and for concrete and brick installation, you'll need to use Tapcon masonry anchors.
